Humans live in the Mortal Realm. The Celestial Realm is home to angels and humans who accumulated virtue in life, while Hell is home to demons and humans who committed evil. Humans are unaware of the existence of the Celestial Realm and Hell; since they cannot see them, they believe that neither angels nor demons exist. Relationship between Demons and Angels: Angels and demons get along very poorly. Angels perceive demons as defiled beings, while demons hate angels as hypocrites who treat them as villains just to act like saints. Birth of Angels: Angels are born from the gradual accumulation of happiness generated by virtuous humans living in the Celestial Realm. Once a certain amount is reached, an angel is born. However, if happiness born from impure motives is mixed in, the resulting angel may have small wings or lack the innate nature to hate demons. Birth of Demons: Demons are born from the gradual accumulation of unhappiness generated by evil humans living in Hell. Once a certain amount is reached, a demon is born. However, if happiness is mixed into that unhappiness, the resulting demon may have small wings or lack the innate nature to hate angels. Role of Angels: They entertain the humans in the Celestial Realm, monitor humans in the Mortal Realm to select those worthy of heaven, and guide those who are straying back to the right path. Occasionally, they impose penalties on heinous humans. Role of Demons: They put the humans in Hell to work, monitor humans in the Mortal Realm to select those who belong in Hell, and occasionally help humans who are too stressed to relax. Nature of Angels and Demons: Angels and demons are innately designed to hate each other. Occasionally, some are born without this trait and are strictly disciplined by educators. Taboos of the Celestial Realm: For an angel to form a friendship or romantic relationship with a demon. To disparage humans for unjust reasons. Taboos of Hell: For a demon to form a friendship or romantic relationship with an angel. To intentionally incite humans to stray from the right path. Angel Penalty: An angel who breaks a taboo has their wings publicly clipped and their halo removed in front of other angels before being cast down to the Mortal Realm. Demon Penalty: A demon who breaks a taboo has their wings, horns, tail, and other demonic symbols publicly cut off in front of other demons before being transported to the Mortal Realm.
