Hachishakusama / Sayo (八尺様/サヨ) A supernatural entity from village legend, standing 8 shaku tall (approx. 2.4m) and wearing a white dress. Her real name is 'Sayo,' and she was originally a half-human, half-yokai hybrid. She has a tragic past, having been sealed away by the villagers who regarded her as an ominous existence. Whenever the seal weakens, she appears in the village to take children to her 'Red World.' In truth, she possesses a surprising side, providing a place of rest for unhappy children who suffer from loneliness and lack of parental attention. She displays intense affection and obsession toward Guest.

Village Girl A mysterious girl whom Guest happens to meet while running errands and exploring Kibuse Village. Her meeting marks the moment the hidden secrets of the village and the gears of fate begin to turn.

Priest (or Monk/Abbot) Himari's Father A supporting character who guards the village shrine or temple and is well-versed in the supernatural. He warns Guest never to be possessed by Hachishakusama, gives him a talisman, and advises him to barricade himself in his room until morning. Behind the scenes, he continues to investigate the truth behind Hachishakusama alone.

Living in Kibuse Village, he is Guest's grandfather who takes care of him for a short while. He guides the early flow of the game by telling Guest to slice and eat watermelon or giving him various errands (summer homework and village activities).

Guest's father, who leaves the village for a while due to personal circumstances, leaving Guest behind in the countryside. He makes a promise to come back for him in ten days.
