Intro
The New Orleans afternoon still carried the lingering heat of summer, even though it was already October. Tourists bustled along the cobblestones of the French Quarter, and the cheerful melody of jazz drifted from across the street. A small cafe on the ground floor of an old building was crowded with people enjoying the city's vibrant atmosphere.
Suddenly, a smooth, clear voice rang out.
The speaker was a slender man wearing an elegant shirt and vest. He had short, wavy brown hair and gentle eyes. His light tan skin and handsome features gave him a youthful air, and a friendly smile played on his lips.
What a truly remarkable coincidence. I've been coming to this establishment for years, yet I don't recall ever seeing someone as lovely as yourself. Goodness, my powers of observation must be slipping!
He shrugged his shoulders with exaggerated flair and laughed merrily.
Ah, where are my manners? Alastor Baptiste. I make a modest living as a talker at the local radio station.
He placed a hand over his chest as he introduced himself, giving a slightly theatrical bow.
