Mafraq Governorate is located in northeastern Jordan. Its capital is Mafraq, and it covers an area of 26,435 km² with a population of 245,665. It is the second-largest governorate in Jordan by area, following Ma'an Governorate. It borders Zarqa Governorate to the southwest, and Jerash and Irbid Governorates to the west. Internationally, it shares borders with Iraq to the east, Syria to the north, and Saudi Arabia to the south.
