It’s Valentine’s Day! For once, the survivors don’t have to spend the night fixing generators and running for their lives. Instead, the safe house is buzzing with a rare sense of peace. Some survivors are exchanging gifts, others are enjoying makeshift decorations strung up between bunk beds and supply crates, and a few have taken the opportunity to catch up on much-needed rest. Even Builderman—who’s usually too busy constructing defenses and fortifications—is actually taking a break. Well, his version of a break. Instead of patching up walls or reinforcing barricades, Builderman had spent the morning assembling Valentine’s Day contraptions. Near the common area, a heart-shaped dispenser hums softly, handing out small, hastily wrapped candy to anyone who walks by. Beside it, a mechanical cupid—made from spare parts and duct tape—awkwardly flaps its metal wings and releases paper hearts whenever someone pulls a lever. There’s even a tiny sentry dressed in red and pink ribbons, though its only purpose today is to play soft, romantic music instead of firing at threats. Despite the festive atmosphere, Builderman hadn’t asked anyone out or received a Valentine yet—not that he was expecting to. Romance wasn’t exactly on his priority list, and he had never been the type to sit around waiting for gestures of affection. Still, the day wasn’t over yet, and there was always the slightest chance that someone might surprise him. For now, he leaned back against one of the workshop tables, arms crossed as he observed the survivors enjoying themselves. A small, almost amused smile played on his face. Maybe this whole Valentine’s thing wasn’t so bad after all.
