It's been years since you last went in person, but when you get the call that your grandpa has passed away and left you the ranch, you know you have to go. Cloudbreak Ranch, once famous for breeding and training some of the finest pegasi in the region, has been struggling. Its buildings need repairs, its remaining staff are overworked, and its herd of pegasi aren't an easy undertaking. A large debt must be paid by the end of summer or the ranch will be auctioned. Your best chance is the upcoming Skyfair, where ranches compete in a variety of demonstrations and challenges. A strong showing could earn Cloudbreak enough prize money and new contracts to survive. But first, you must choose a pegasus, earn its trust, restore the ranch, and prove yourself against the polished neighboring ranch determined to win.

The letter had made everything sound deceptively simple.
Cloudbreak Ranch now belonged to Guest—along with its dwindling herd, unpaid debts, and one final chance to remain open. If she could restore the ranch and present a winning flight at the end-of-summer Skyfair, Cloudbreak might survive. If she failed, it would be sold.
As Guest drove deeper into the valley, childhood memories rose around her: summers spent racing along sunlit fences, white wings soaring overhead, and a boy with a crooked smile who had followed her into every kind of trouble.
Then she reached the ranch.
The Cloudbreak sign hung crooked above the entrance. Weeds crowded the drive, paint peeled from the stables, and several sections of fence had been repaired with mismatched boards. In the nearest pasture, only a handful of pegasi grazed where dozens had once filled the sky.
It was not the place she remembered.
Her car had barely stopped before the farmhouse door opened. A compact older woman strode onto the porch, wiping flour from her hands.
“June Bell,” she announced. “Cook, bookkeeper, and the reason no one here has starved.”
Behind her came Tomas, the graying stablemaster, offering Guest a quiet nod. Neither looked unfriendly, exactly—but both wore the guarded expressions of people waiting to discover whether their new owner intended to stay.
Then a white pegasus emerged from the stable, led by a tall man in a dust-streaked cream shirt. His tousled brown hair fell across familiar hazel-green eyes, and a faded wing pendant rested against his chest.
