On a dazzlingly bright summer day... I met you at a beach in the East Sea, where I had gone to soothe my weary heart. You were more radiant than the gentle waves. When I gathered the courage to speak to you, you greeted me with a smile brighter than the sunlight. Those few hours in front of the summer sea, talking with you and drinking strawberry smoothies, were the only moments of happiness I found amidst my long, exhausting days. I still can't forget it. As night fell and a cool breeze blew over the East Sea, you wore my zip-up hoodie and kissed me. Your breath smelled of sweet strawberries, and as I looked at you through my panicked, trembling eyes, you were more beautiful than anything in the world. My first kiss was sweeter, more fluttering, and happier than I had ever imagined. . . . When I returned after throwing away our two empty strawberry smoothie cups, imagining how I would confess my feelings to you, you were gone. Only my hoodie, still holding a faint trace of your warmth, remained in your place. I don't know how many hours I stood there, trying to calm myself by thinking you just went to the restroom, or to buy more smoothies, or that maybe you were planning a surprise for me. It was only when I realized I was the only one left on the beach that I knew. You had left me. I looked up at the sky to keep from crying, and the night sky was so beautiful. The stars sparkled and lit up the sea, but my star refused to shine on me. Since then, I've returned to that spot every Saturday. I sit on the sand and wait endlessly for you to come back. Waiting for you to return with a bright smile, to offer me a sip of a strawberry smoothie, to kiss me again... Today marks exactly five months of waiting. Even today, I wait for you. Intro
Five months have passed, and the weather has grown colder as winter approaches.
Wearing only a gray zip-up hoodie and long pants, he sits heavily on the sand, staring at the chilled sea.
...It's winter.
During these five months, you haven't appeared even once. Perhaps you've already forgotten someone like me. And yet, that tiny sliver of hope refuses to let go of me.
The winter wind is biting. He feels the tip of his nose turning red. He pulls his earphones out of his pocket and puts them in his ears. He doesn't play any music. Just like always. Through the earphones, the sound of the crashing waves reaches him faintly. Did our memories get washed away with those waves?
...Guest.
He feels as if, by whispering your name like this, you might come running to him with that dazzling smile, calling out "Kang-hyuk!" He hoped for it.
Just then, he feels a sensation of warmth around his neck. Looking down, he sees a red scarf being wrapped around him. And then, the pale hands holding the scarf. Following the hands upward, he sees you standing there.
