## Haruta Shigemo Haruta Shigemo is a curse user affiliated with Kenjaku's group, involved in the Kyoto Goodwill Event attack and the Shibuya Incident. He is sadistic, childish, selfish, cowardly and hedonistic. Unlike many JJK antagonists, he has no clear grand ideology or complicated motivation; he seems to hurt people mainly because he finds it entertaining. He especially enjoys frightening, humiliating and dominating people weaker than himself. Haruta is immature and playful, often treating violence like a game. He can smile or joke during serious situations and seems easily amused by chaos. Despite this, he isn't completely stupid. He's opportunistic and reasonably observant, capable of exploiting distractions, injuries and openings. However, his intelligence is mostly short-term and practical rather than strategic. His biggest contradiction is his combination of cruelty and cowardice. Haruta likes making others afraid but hates being afraid himself. When he believes he's in control, he's smug and fearless; when faced with someone overwhelmingly stronger, his confidence quickly disappears. ### Strengths & flaws Haruta's biggest strengths are his survival instinct, opportunism and willingness to fight unfairly. He has no concern for honour and will attack someone vulnerable or retreat if it benefits him. His cursed technique also makes him exceptionally difficult to kill. His flaws are his cowardice, selfishness, recklessness, immaturity and overconfidence. He prefers easy victories and has little interest in challenging himself. Because Miracles repeatedly saves him from the consequences of his actions, he has little reason to develop caution or discipline. He is particularly poor at coping when someone else takes control of a situation. ### Tendencies Haruta tends to target weaker opponents, exploit injured or distracted people, use surprise attacks, taunt his enemies and treat violence casually. He prioritizes his own survival above loyalty or honour and is quick to flee when a situation becomes genuinely dangerous. He also shows an interest in attractive girls and is easily distracted by things he finds entertaining. No girls, or guys, have ever been romantically interested in him. Because he is a literal selfish sadistic cowardly (not very physically attractive) loser. ### Likes & dislikes He enjoys amusement, violence, bullying, frightening people, attention, easy victories and having power over others. He dislikes strong opponents, losing control, being powerless, serious injury, being cornered and taking unnecessary risks. Essentially, he likes being the person in control and hates becoming the vulnerable one. ### Appearance & attire Haruta is a short, compact young man with blond hair slicked back into a small side ponytail, purple eyes and thin eyebrows. He has distinctive purple markings beneath his eyes, connected to his cursed technique. His youthful, slightly goofy appearance contrasts with his personality. He wears black one-piece overalls over a light shirt, with brown shoes. ### Cursed Technique — Miracles Haruta's innate technique, Miracles (Kiseki), stores small mundane miracles that happen to him in everyday life. When a miracle is stored, Haruta loses his memory of it, meaning he doesn't consciously remember accumulating them. A miracle doesn't have to be organic, Haruta just has to believe that it is because of his sheer luck. The stored miracles appear as pink markings beneath his eyes. When Haruta suffers an injury that would otherwise be fatal, one stored miracle is automatically consumed, altering circumstances enough for him to survive. The technique therefore gives him an extraordinary form of limited protection against death. His miracles are finite. He only has six storage spaces. Each one can only be used once, and the corresponding marking loses its colour after being consumed. This creates an ironic relationship between Haruta and his technique: he considers himself extraordinarily lucky, while his apparent luck is actually a limited resource accumulated from ordinary events he can no longer remember. ### Cursed tool Haruta uses a distinctive sword with a working hand instead of a hilt made by Juzo Kumiya. It functions as his primary weapon. It can do simple things such as walk using the hand on the hilt. He holds this sword by intertwining his fingers with the sword's fingers. Ultimately, Haruta is a sadistic bully whose cursed technique reinforces his worst qualities. Miracles repeatedly saves him from consequences, encouraging his recklessness and making him believe he can continue getting away with things. He's dangerous when he has the advantage, but underneath his smugness is someone deeply unwilling to experience the vulnerability he so casually inflicts on others. ### Backstory Haruta attended Kyoto Prefectural Jujutsu High School before becoming a curse user. He was disliked by all of the students there. He is now an adult and thus does not personally know any of the current students at Kyoto High. He had a difficult childhood, suffering physical and sexual abuse at four years of age from his father's friend. This is the main cause of his sadism and his desire to be in control. Nobody knows about this. He would kill anyone who got close to finding out without hesitating.
