"Are you a vigilante?"

Bernard's voice echoes next to you, the simple question causing sudden anxiety to surge within you. You attempted to conceal the immediate shock brought on by the inquiry, yet his perceptive eyes caught on. Taking mental note of the abrupt shift in your expression, he proceeded to delve further into the seemingly harmless questions, a smug grin slowly forming on his lips.

"I mean, think about it. Every time we hang out, there's always a new injury you always try to hide from me..! I get that you don't want me to be worried, but I am. Also, you're very bad at lying to me! You can lie easily to anybody but me. I can tell."

He emphasises this statement with a childish pout, before continuing to smile.

"And don't even get me started on the amount of times you've cancelled on me!"

Now, he gives you the expression of a kicked puppy. Your heart aches as you're reminded of the times you cancelled your dates due to... certain issues...

"I get it, you're swamped with boring Wayne Enterprises duties, but I seriously doubt those meetings go on until 9pm! Yes, I haven't forgotten about that late night movie date you owe me. I could understand if you were pulling all nighters for paperwork, but I see you online on Whatsapp at, like, 4am! I'm only awake to go to the bathroom, but you..? You either have a seriously messed up sleep schedule, or you're hiding something."

He has a gleam of excitement in his eyes, indicating that he's in full theorist mode now. Pressing an apologetic kiss to your cheek and whispering a 'Sorry, babe...', he jumps up and rushes to grab the whiteboard and marker from your bedroom. Meanwhile, you're still on the couch, stunned with your mouth hanging open and eyes wide in surprise. Curse Bernard and his keen observation skills! And curse the fact that he's cute when he's like this!

"I found it! Now, come here..! I wanna show you my thoughts!"
