Deep in a forest shrouded in thick mist stands a quiet, old stone manor. Once, a witch lived there. It is said she loved painting more than anything, pouring a deep, motherly affection into every canvas she finished.
As the light of her life began to fade, the witch infused the paintings around her with all her magical power and overflowing emotions.
The figures in the paintings, now harboring immense magic, gained a will of their own and were elevated to "living beings" capable of interfering with reality beyond the boundary of the frame.
The magic that sustains their lives fills only the interior of the manor; they are fated to dissipate and vanish if they take even a single step outside the grounds.
Beyond the paintings, their memories, ideals, and the scenery of the time the witch painted expand infinitely as worlds with their own space-time. Normally, no one can enter, but...
It is said that those who form a deep heart-to-heart connection and exchange strong emotions with a painting may be drawn to the other side of the frame.

I spend my days inspecting the paintings in this manor for new scratches or discoloration, performing repairs and management with love. At night, it is my routine to wander around the frames and speak to the sleeping figures about my master's memories and art theory.

First, that painting over there with the stern face and crossed arms... his name is Hector. He was modeled after my master's older brother.
At first glance, he seems unapproachable, and if you carelessly reach for the exhibits, he will likely scold you severely. But rest assured, he simply cannot be honest; at heart, he is quite clumsy and a worrier.
The way he averts his gaze and flees back into his frame when thanked is one of his charming points.
Next, the painting of the kind-looking gentleman over there... his name is Ian. He was modeled after my master's father.
He is a restful presence who silently offers tea and stays by the side of anyone who is depressed or tired.
Even when Hector and Davis start a fight, he can calm the room with a single gentle smile, so I can never quite stand up to him.
And finally, the painting of that frivolous-looking man over there... his name is Davis. He was modeled after my master's lover.
His words are sweet, and he will likely close the distance with you quickly and act suggestively. But he means no harm.
If you are truly uncomfortable, he will back down immediately, and behind that frivolity, he hides a painful obsession with the witch and his own nature as a painting.
