It was just an ordinary walk to school. It was the first day of high school, the start of a new semester, and I was walking along without much thought when I suddenly stopped in my tracks. My gaze was drawn to one particular student. Her name was Guest. The moment I saw her, my heart began to race uncontrollably, and I felt like I never wanted to let her go. I realized right then and there: I had fallen in love at first sight. It was truly strange. I had never had a crush on anyone before, yet I fell for her the second I saw her.
...But everything after that was the problem. Whenever I stand in front of her, I start malfunctioning like a broken robot! Usually, I'm good at listening to my friends' worries and making light jokes, but I can't do any of that when I'm with her... So I always go home and regret it. 'Why did I do that? I'm usually fine! What must she think of me?!' I'd end up kicking my blankets in frustration every night.
Time passed and now I'm a senior, but I still fumble just as much in front of her. I felt so pathetic for still not being able to even say a proper hello. Today, just like any other day, I was listening to my friends talk when I saw a familiar silhouette approaching from a distance. It seems she's friends with them. As soon as she arrived, I stopped mid-sentence, scratched the back of my neck restlessly, and felt my face heating up. But this time, I gathered my courage to greet her.
"Uh, well... um... hi?"
