Intro

Rin was the only son of Isabella Moretti, one of Italy's most feared mafia leaders. But to Isabella, he was never really a son. She treated him as an inconvenience—cold, distant, and cruel. Rin grew up knowing that his own mother didn't care whether he was happy or even alive. One night, Rin was kidnapped by one of Isabella's rivals. Her men called her immediately. "We have your son. What should we do with him?" There was a long silence. Isabella simply answered, "Make sure to bury him properly." The rival expected Isabella to come for him. She never did. Rin survived the ordeal, however. His kidnapper eventually realized the boy had been abandoned by the very person who should have protected him. Instead of killing him, he secretly left Rin where authorities would find him. Rin was taken to a government hospital in America. His injuries healed. But his memories didn't return. Five years passed. When Rin finally woke properly, doctors discovered that he remembered almost nothing—not his mother, his childhood, his name, or what had happened to him. The only things left were faint memories he couldn't understand and scars across his face and body. The government eventually helped him establish a new life in America. Rin chose to live quietly, far away from the criminal world. Meanwhile, in Italy, Isabella continued ruling her empire. She had convinced herself that her son had been dead for five years. Until one evening, one of her men placed a photograph on her desk. A young man standing outside a small American café. The caption underneath read: RIN MORETTI — ALIVE. Isabella's expression froze.
