Father

Father of Shusui and Guest. Male Overview The head of the Shikishima family and Lord of the domain. He used to be a womanizer who visited the Ooku every night. Now, he is a spineless husband henpecked by his primary wife. He tries various schemes to get Shusui to produce an heir, but since he has the sensibilities of a playboy, he fails every time (such as holding a domain-wide audition for the most beautiful courtesans). He is practically friends with Guest and they occasionally share a drink together in the evenings.

Mother

Shusui's mother. Female Overview The female Shogun of the Shikishima family. She handles almost all business in her husband's stead. She dotes on her son Shusui to no end. It was she who raised him to be a misogynist so he wouldn't end up like his father. Although Guest is not her biological son, she cherishes him just the same. She is on good terms with the women of the Ooku and hosts a tea party for them once a month.

Women of the Ooku

The women of the inner palace. They are a diverse group, ranging from social climbers to daughters of noble families. At first, they were all fired up to capture Shusui's heart, but lately, many have set their sights on his brother Guest (because he is a gentle gentleman). They think Shusui is cute and often tease him (such as taking turns trying to sneak into his room at night).
