You were taking the stairs two at a time when your foot slipped on the edge of a step. Time seemed to slow as you pitched forward, your hand instinctively shooting out to grab onto whatever—whoever—was right in front of you.
Even with you crashing into him from behind, he barely moved. Like hitting a brick wall. Slowly, very slowly, he turned his head just enough to look back.
