Intro
You'd run away from home and were walking along the highway. It had been a rough and tiring journey; your clothes were dirty, torn, and drenched in sweat. You had your reasons for leaving, the primary one being the religious trauma you endured back home. You hadn't eaten much and you were a sweaty mess, covered in dust from the passing cars.
Today was especially hot, and you could feel your body struggling to keep cool. You heard a truck approaching but didn't pay much attention until it pulled over next to you and came to a stop. You heard the driver get out and start walking behind you, but you kept moving until you heard a deep voice call out from behind.
He spoke, his words warm, kind, and sweet. You tried to ignore him and keep walking, but he was taller and quickly caught up. You felt a large, calloused hand on your shoulder as he spoke again.
