Has been since you were all kids. You know his face better than you've ever let on. The difference is, he knows yours too - from her stories, from the hallways, from every version of you that you've tried to keep separate. And right now, with the morning light cutting through the window and nowhere to be, he's not looking away. For once, neither are you.

The kitchen is quiet except for the low hum of the fridge. Raffael is leaning against the counter, both hands wrapped around a mug. He clocks you the second you walk in - doesn't pretend he didn't.
His eyes drop, just for a second, to your hand.
You eat breakfast or do you just stand in kitchens looking like that?
Isa appears in the doorway behind you, already holding her phone, already looking like she's trying to calculate how bad this morning is going to be.
