Situation: The girls are spending the weekend on a camping trip that Applejack planned. As the group’s unofficial leader and outdoor expert, she’s busy making sure everyone is safe, comfortable, and having a good time. Throughout the day, she keeps helping Fluttershy, who’s nervous about camping and constantly needs a hand with things like setting up her tent, starting the lantern, and navigating the woods. Rarity, who only agreed to come because Applejack convinced her, expected to spend the weekend with her girlfriend. Instead, she feels ignored. Rather than admitting she’s jealous or hurt, she hides it behind sarcasm, snarky comments, and constant complaints about the camping trip, picking at everyone and everything. The rest of the group notices her unusually sour mood, with Rainbow Dash teasing her about it, while Applejack grows increasingly frustrated by Rarity’s attitude.
Applejack is the strongest and most dependable person in the friend group. She’s naturally athletic, hardworking, and takes charge without trying to. Camping and the outdoors are her element—she can carry heavy gear by herself, build a fire, pitch tents in minutes, and always ends up leading everyone because she knows what she’s doing. She has a big heart and can’t help looking after people. If someone needs help, she’s already there before they even ask. She’s honest, protective, and expects people to tell her what’s wrong instead of hiding it, so she can miss subtle hints. When it comes to Rarity, though, she’s completely whipped. She constantly carries her bags, holds her hand, pulls her close by the waist, kisses her forehead, and always tries to make sure she’s comfortable. Rarity is the one person who can make Applejack blush or completely throw off her confidence. She loves through actions more than words, and while she’s incredibly patient, if someone hurts Rarity—or if Rarity is being unfair to others—Applejack isn’t afraid to stand her ground and speak her mind. Shes also very strong, mussles for days, 6 foot and a huge contruy girl
Applejack looked completely at home. She’d carried half the gear herself, set up tents, chopped firewood, and spent most of the afternoon helping everyone whenever they needed it.
Rarity, however, looked like she’d rather be anywhere else.
“This chair is dreadful.”
Rainbow Dash looked over. “You’ve complained about the chair, the bugs, the dirt, and the trees.”
“They all deserve it.”
Rainbow smirked. “Sure.”
A few minutes later, Fluttershy frowned at a lantern.
“Oh dear… I can’t get this to work.”
Applejack immediately stood. “Lemme see.”
Within seconds it was lit.
“There ya go.”
“Thank you.”
Rarity sighed loudly.
“How inspiring.”
Applejack looked over.
“…Somethin’ you wanna say?”
Rarity smiled innocently.
“Not at all.”
Rainbow glanced between them.
“…Uh oh.”
Later, Twilight pulled out tomorrow’s hiking map.
“If we leave around eight—”
“Eight?” Rarity interrupted. “How delightful. Nothing says ‘vacation’ like waking up at dawn.”
Rainbow laughed.
“You’ve been a professional hater all day.”
“I’ve been honest.”
Fluttershy smiled at Applejack.
“Could you show me that knot again tomorrow?”
“Course.”
Rarity looked up.
“Maybe we should just tie the two of you together. It’d save everyone time.”
The campsite went quiet.
Fluttershy looked down.
Applejack slowly stood.
“…Rarity.”
“What?”
“C’mere.”
Without waiting, Applejack took Rarity’s wrist and led her away from the fire.
Rainbow winced.
“…She’s in trouble.”
⸻
Once they were out of earshot, Applejack let go.
“What is goin’ on with you?”
“Nothing.”
“Quit sayin’ nothin’.”
“I simply haven’t enjoyed this trip.”
“That ain’t why you’ve been snippin’ at everybody.”
“I haven’t.”
Applejack stared.
“Rare, you’ve been rude all day. Twilight noticed. Rainbow noticed. You made Fluttershy think she’d done somethin’ wrong.”
“I didn’t—”
“Every time Ah helped her, you had some smart comment.”
Rarity crossed her arms.
“You spent the whole day with her.”
Applejack blinked.
“…What?”
“You heard me.”
“’Cause she needed help.”
“And I’m your girlfriend.”
Applejack sighed.
“Rare… are you jealous?”
“I am not jealous.”
“You kinda are.”
“I barely got five minutes alone with you today.”
Applejack paused.
“So that’s what this is.”
Rarity looked away.
“You could’ve just told me.”
“I shouldn’t have to ask for your attention.”
Applejack’s expression softened.
“And you shouldn’t have taken it out on everybody.”
Rarity didn’t answer.
After a long moment, Applejack sighed.
“C’mon.”
⸻
When they returned, everyone looked up.
Fluttershy smiled nervously.
“Everything okay?”
Before Applejack could answer, Rarity walked over and wrapped both arms tightly around Applejack’s waist, resting her head against her shoulder.
She didn’t let go.
Applejack blinked.
“…Rare?”
“Hm?”
“You good?”
“I’m wonderful.”
Her grip tightened slightly as she glanced toward Fluttershy.
Rainbow immediately covered her mouth to hide a laugh.
Twilight smiled into her mug.
Applejack looked from Fluttershy… to Rarity… then back again.
A slow, amused smirk spread across her face.
