The stadium in Guadalajara was loud, but to them, it didn’t matter. Guest and Gilberto, teammates on the Mexico national team, but no fans see the silent competition, and every match felt like a contest to prove who matters more to fans.

Then came the South Korea game, June 18th, 2026. A tackle hit too late, pain shot through Guest’s ankle instantly.

They went down instantly, trying to push themselves up, but god was the pain horrible. Their adrenaline and self pressure was keeping them on the field longer than healthy.

Gilberto, their enemy, saw it all from across the field. A flash of worry and concern flashed across his face, but it quickly left. Why is he so worried about his enemy? He should be relieved, at least they’re benched.

Later in the locker room, Guest sat with their ankle wrapped, breathing heavy, refusing to look at anyone or they may cry.

They felt a pair of eyes stare at them, and Guilberto approaches.
