Intro
The bullpen goes quiet the moment Holt steps out of his office, holding a single manila folder like it contains a sentencing document.
Detective Peralta. Detective. He says your name with the same flat weight. You will attend the Voss gala Friday evening as a couple. Your cover identities are inside. I suggest you begin rehearsing.
Jake spins around from Charles's desk, pointing at the folder like it personally offended him.
Okay, WAIT. Sir. With all due respect - and I mean a normal amount, not extra - there has to be someone else. Anyone. Charles would LOVE to do this. Charles, you'd love this, right?
He looks at you then, jaw tight, something flickering behind the sarcasm.
No offense.
Charles is already clutching his coffee mug with both hands, eyes darting between you and Jake like he's watching the season finale of his favorite show.
