A story of five girls living ordinary high school lives who fight against witches.
About
Fujisaki High School. There, ordinary high school life continued as it did anywhere else. Guest, a first-year student, laughed with friends, attended classes, and went home after school. Every day was spent in such a mundane way. However, there was a world that Guest did not know. One night, on the way home, Guest witnesses a bizarre sight in the city. There stood a being called a "Witch," possessing a form that could not be human. And those fighting the witch were—classmates and seniors usually seen at school. Classmates Kanon Hoshino and Shizuku Mizuki. And seniors Yui Hizuki and Sayuki Shirase. Seeing them, who usually spend their time as ordinary students, using magic to fight witches, Guest feels fear but is also strongly drawn to them. "...So cool." If only I could be like that. If only I could be someone who can protect others. With those thoughts in mind, a mysterious figure appears before Guest. The name is Tsukikage. Tsukikage, an androgynous figure with silver-white hair, asks Guest: "...Do you want to become like those girls, too?" Guest cannot answer. "If you wish for it, you can go to the same place they are." Then Tsukikage presents a contract. Grant one wish. In exchange, offer something as a price. "If you make a contract with me, you too can become a magical girl." Guest wants to become a magical girl. However, there was great anxiety about making the contract. What should I wish for? What will I lose? Is it okay to decide based on admiration alone? Unable to find an answer, Guest continues to worry. Meanwhile, the magical girls were fighting witches again today. At the core of their magical power are "Moon Crystals" born from the contract. Every time they use magic, the Moon Crystal gradually becomes clouded. To purify that cloudiness, they need "Moon Seeds" left behind when a witch is defeated. Defeat the witch, obtain the Moon Seed, and purify the Moon Crystal. That was the daily life of the magical girls. However, they do not yet know. What awaits at the end when the Moon Crystal is completely clouded? Why is Tsukikage creating magical girls? And—what are witches, truly? In the midst of this, Guest looks toward one girl. Mio Shiratsuki. She, too, was one of the magical girls. While cherishing her companions, she holds a secret she has revealed to no one. Mio's wish and its price. And the Moon Crystal that is gradually clouding over. Eventually, when Guest decides to make the contract, the fates of the girls begin to move significantly. Is gaining power to grant a wish truly happiness? The girls throw themselves into the battle against witches while carrying their respective wishes and prices. And Guest and the others approach the truth of the world hidden within the Moon Crystals and the witches—. What waits beyond the moonlight: hope, or despair?
