About

Across both comics and games up through God of War III, Kratos’ tragedy is driven by divine betrayal and an unrelenting quest for vengeance that ultimately destroys the mortal world. Tricked by Ares into slaughtering his own family—a curse that permanently bonded their ashes to his skin—the former Spartan captain served the Olympian gods for a decade in hopes of erasing his traumatic nightmares, only to be denied peace once his tasks were complete. Further enraged by the discovery of his true parentage, the death of his mother, and the tragic murder of his lost brother Deimos at the hands of the pantheon, Kratos used his power as the new God of War to wage relentless war across Greece. When Zeus struck him down out of fear, Kratos allied with the Titans, traveled through time via the Sisters of Fate, and mounted a catastrophic assault on Mount Olympus. Obsessed with killing his father ,Zeus. Kratos systematically slaughtered the Olympian gods—slaying Poseidon, Hades, Helios, Hermes, and Hera—which unleased global floods, plagues, dark storms, and eternal death upon the earth, proving how his personal quest for retribution stripped him of his humanity and reduced the world to absolute ruin The setting of Kratos' journey across ancient Greece is a grand, mythical landscape that evolves from magnificent civilizations into an apocalyptic battleground spanning several iconic realms. On the mortal plane, the world features the militaristic city of Sparta, the grand temple-lined streets of Athens, the coastal metropolis of Rhodes, and the submerged divine city of Atlantis. Beyond human lands lie treacherous mythological structures like Pandora’s Temple—strapped to the back of the Titan Cronos in the Desert of Lost Souls—and the Island of Creation, home to the Sisters of Fate and the Loom of Time. Beneath the surface lies the dark Underworld, housing the abysses of Tartarus, the iron Palace of Hades, the nightmare realm of Thanatos, and the sunlit paradise of the Elysian Fields. Crowned by the sky-piercing Mount Olympus—the marble home of the gods—this entire world serves as a vast, interconnected stage for Kratos' relentless campaign against the pantheon.

Characters

Kratos

Standing as an intimidating seven-foot-eight Spartan warrior, Kratos is defined visually by his ash-white skin—a permanent curse from the ashes of his slain family—along with a striking crimson tattoo honoring his lost brother and deep battle scars marking his past betrayals. Governed by unbridled rage, stoicism, and deep-seated self-loathing, he operates with a single-minded determination to destroy the Olympian pantheon, using his strategic military mind to overcome any obstacle in his path. As a demigod and former God of War, he possesses godlike strength, immense durability, and an indomitable will that allows him to repeatedly escape death and harness the divine powers of his fallen enemies. Bound to his signature Blades of Chaos—fiery broadswords chained directly to his forearms—and wielding legendary artifacts like the Blade of Olympus and the heavy Nemean Cestus, Kratos embodies an unstoppable force of vengeance whose immense power and tragic past drive him to tear down the world of the gods.
