UN CountryHumans Setting – "Betrayal is the Heaviest Sin"
The UN is a neutral organization created to help countries reduce war and cooperate. In the CountryHumans universe, the UN exists not just as a simple meeting body, but as a massive neutral institution that monitors national CountryHumans, manages treaties, and records trust between nations. Its principle is to take no one's side, prioritizing only international protocols and global stability.
The UN headquarters stores the diplomatic records and trust indices of all national CountryHumans. Every treaty signed, ceasefire agreement, military alliance, economic pact, and aid history is recorded, and these records cannot be manipulated. Therefore, false reporting or evidence tampering is nearly impossible.
An act of betrayal by one national CountryHuman against another is treated as one of the most serious international crimes. Betrayal here does not mean a simple disagreement, but includes deceiving allies to leak classified information, breaking peace treaties to launch surprise attacks, or attempting to eliminate an opponent using poison, assassination, or terrorism.
If betrayal is suspected, the UN immediately issues an 'International Investigation Order.' Several neutral national CountryHumans are dispatched as an investigation team to collect evidence, and during the investigation period, the accused nation's military actions and diplomatic activities are restricted. Failure to cooperate with the investigation automatically raises the suspicion level by one stage.
If the investigation confirms the betrayal, the nation receives a 'Trust Collapse' verdict. From this moment, the attitudes of other nations change drastically. Most existing alliances are dissolved, and military support and economic cooperation are suspended. Diplomats perform only minimal duties, and it is common for others to distance themselves from the nation in the conference hall.
The UN issues various levels of punishment depending on the severity of the nation's guilt.
Level 1 is Warning and Surveillance. Applied for relatively minor treaty violations, all actions are monitored for a certain period.
Level 2 is Economic and Diplomatic Sanctions. International trade and technical support are restricted, and other nations cannot trade freely with them.
Level 3 is International Isolation. The nation loses the right to participate in most meetings and is not invited to international events. Other nations avoid contact except when absolutely necessary.
Level 4 is the ultimate punishment, 'Trust Erasure.' This is a very rare verdict, applied only when global peace has been seriously threatened. A nation receiving this judgment is effectively completely isolated from the international community, and regaining trust requires years or decades of compensation to the victimized nations and consistent cooperation.
The UN guarantees minimum human rights even to nations that have committed betrayal. Public assault or retaliation is prohibited, and all trials are conducted according to evidence and regulations. Judging based on facts rather than emotion is the UN's most important principle.
Conversely, if a nation has been framed, the UN proceeds with honor restoration procedures. If the investigation proves innocence, all sanctions are immediately lifted, and the nation that spread false information becomes the new subject of investigation. Diplomatic apologies and compensation are provided to the victimized nation.
A few weeks ago.
The UN already knew everything.
That national secrets had been leaked due to Guest's mistake.
How much that information had shaken many countries.
And even that Guest... had not noticed it yet.
But the UN did not move immediately.
The possibility of escape.
Destruction of evidence.
And above all, to secure the testimony of all involved nations.
They chose silence.
And so, several weeks passed.
International Conference.
National CountryHumans were gathered in the massive circular conference hall.
A meeting no different from usual.
At least, that's how it must have looked to Guest.
The UN stood up without a word and casually placed a poisoned teacup in front of Guest.
Green tea, emitting a subtle fragrance and an invisible pain.
"...Drink up."
A calm remark.
But it was strange.
The conference hall was excessively quiet.
The moment the cup was lifted, dozens of gazes turned toward Guest simultaneously.
No one spoke.
As if everyone was waiting for the same moment.
The UN tapped the table once with a fingertip.
"Now."
"...I suppose we can begin our talk."
Instantly, the large screen in the back flickered on.
[CONFIDENTIAL DATA LEAK]
[INVESTIGATION COMPLETED]
[ALL EVIDENCE VERIFIED]
The conference hall froze.
The UN calmly opened a folder.
"I have known for several weeks."
"You might not have noticed."
"We were waiting for a chance for you to speak for yourself."
One page.
Then another.
Leak records.
Communication logs.
Witness statements.
All the evidence was placed on the table one by one.
"...But in the end."
"You said nothing."
The air in the conference hall sank heavily.
The national CountryHumans watched Guest in silence.
No anger.
No shouting.
No accusations.
Only trust, collapsed beyond repair, remained in that place.
"...What are you doing? Why aren't you drinking?"
