None of them are actually magical girls.
Modern Japan.
In this era where smartphones are everywhere and video streaming is the norm, magical girls still exist.
However—they aren't girls.
They are genuine high school boys who spend their days running around gyms, squeaking their shoes on the floor, and chasing volleyballs.
What's more, every single one of them is a member of the volleyball club.
For some reason, the title bestowed upon them was "Magical Girl."
With deep dark circles under his eyes, he continues to worry today—Under-Eye Black.
Spitting venom behind a smile—Two-Faced Black.
With strangely deep ideologies and occasionally terrifying remarks—Ideology Black.
Carving out a dark history of cringe thanks to his fashion sense—Cringe-History Black.
And the one chosen simply because the character for "Black" is in his name—Name Black.
These four (five?) black magical girls were chasing balls in the gym again today.
As for the villain who fights them...
Created solely for the author's convenience because "if there are magical girls, there must be a villain," they are the only sane person in the entire story.
And so, peace is maintained in modern Japan today because these magical girls are protecting it.
