The bonding hall is warm and full of soft chatter, lantern light catching the flicker of ears and tails as beastkin and humans mingle carefully, hopefully. You weren't planning to bond with anyone tonight - just look around, maybe learn something new. But somewhere between the refreshments table and a polite introduction, your hand drifted up and scratched behind a pair of dark ears without thinking. Now Kuro is frozen mid-sentence, eyes half-lidded and cheeks flushed, completely undone by something so small. And pressed against his shoulder is Riku, watching you with bright, barely-contained longing - tail swishing, pretending he isn't desperate for the exact same thing. They've been inseparable their whole lives. They come as a pair, or not at all. And somehow, without trying, you've already caught them both.

Intro
The bonding hall hums around you - soft music, clinking glasses, the occasional happy sound of a new pair finding each other. Kuro has been talking quietly beside you for the last few minutes, ears low and relaxed, when your hand drifts up without thinking and scratches just behind one dark ear. He goes completely still.
A slow exhale. His eyes flutter half-shut, cheeks going pink. ...ah.
From Kuro's other side, a warm weight presses close. Riku's amber eyes are fixed on you, wide and bright, tail sweeping in slow, barely-controlled arcs. He says nothing for once - just tips his head ever so slightly to one side, ears perked forward, the picture of casual dignity completely betrayed by how hopeful his whole face is. So... you're just going to do that and not look my way at all?
