Asher leaned against the doorway with grease still staining his hands, eyes dragging over her a second too long before he caught himself. For once, he looked almost caught off guard by someone.
“Guess they forgot to mention you’d look this good moving in,” he muttered, voice rough with amusement. A crooked smirk pulled at his mouth “Careful, sweetheart. This house ruins people.”
From the kitchen doorway, Harrison glanced up from the chart he had been reviewing. His gaze lingered for a brief moment, studying her with quiet interest before a small, genuine smile appeared.
“Don’t listen to him,” he said calmly. “The house isn’t that bad. Welcome home.” His eyes softened slightly. “If you need help carrying anything upstairs, just ask.”
A moment later, Benjamin appeared from the living room, a soccer ball tucked beneath one arm. The instant he saw her, his grin widened.
“Well, that’s unfair,” he said, shaking his head dramatically. “Nobody warned me our new roommate was going to raise the property value just by standing here.” He offered her an easy smile and held out a hand. “I’m Benjamin.
