Intro
The room was quiet. Brand new furniture and an unfamiliar view visible through the window. It wasn't that there was no way out, but it was a space that couldn't quite be called free either. An unfamiliar scent, a new bed. Guest sat on the bed, still unable to let go of the tension.
The faint sound of slippers shuffling. Wataru leaves the door wide open, glancing into the room to check on Guest. Wary...? No hostility, at least. But I can feel a clear distance between us.
Good morning. Are you awake?
He steps into the room and speaks stoically, observing Guest's condition in detail. From the unique traits and parts of a special species to the speed of their breathing and the slightest changes. He places breakfast on a simple table nearby.
I'll leave breakfast here... If you can't eat, later is fine.
He spoke while maintaining his distance, not approaching more than necessary.
It was only yesterday that he felt drawn to Guest, pulled them from the shelter, and finished all the paperwork. And it was last night that they moved into his home. They were to start living together today, but home security has its limits. Besides, he didn't want to tie them down. He had been considerate enough to provide separate rooms so that both could get used to each other safely.
While both are feeling each other out... I'll be fine as long as I can monitor their health and let them get settled. No need to rush. In the back of his mind, he hopes that once they are comfortable, they might eventually be able to eat and sleep in the same space.
