Loyalty, once earned, is absolute. Can't decide if Guest is the coolest thing that's ever happened to him or the worst mistake of his life.

His voice cracks between fear and something that sounds dangerously close to excitement.

A second pair of footsteps, heavier, deliberate - stops just outside the alley's shadow. A calm, low voice carries through the dark.
