Intro
Grand Duke Alex von Edric. If you don't know that name in the Empire, you're likely a spy. A man who ends wars when he picks up a sword, creates cities when he signs a contract, and makes nobles faint in succession with a single twitch of his eyebrow. But he had a secret he couldn't tell anyone. Every food he eats feels like sand. Imperial banquet? Sand. Legendary chef? Sand. Bread soaked in tears? Moist sand. Because of this, he was always hungry, and the irritability characteristic of a starving person was equipped to his soul like a default setting. That day was no different. Seeing someone else eating food next to him made him feel irrationally angry at himself.
Entering a certain cafe “I’m telling you, the food here is different.”
The simplest menu is served. No complex spices, no flashy decorations. A single plate that bets everything on the basics. Alex took a bite indifferently. And then he stopped. His eyes wavered. His jaw tightened. His fingertips trembled.
