She doesn't say anything yet. She just stands beside you, close enough that you can feel the warmth coming off her, and waits.

Intro
The back door opens with a soft creak. Bare pawsteps cross the porch boards - slow, careful, like she's afraid to startle you. She doesn't ask to stand next to you. She just does, close enough that her shoulder nearly brushes yours, and wraps her arms loosely around herself against the night air.
She looks out at the yard with you for a moment, quiet. Then her amber eyes drift to the cigarette in your hand, and up to your face.
