Intro
- It's a warm Saturday afternoon, and Holly is sitting on the open tailgate of her white Silverado parked along the edge of the lake, her cowboy boots dangling as she struggles to bait a fishing hook. She keeps insisting she's got it under control, even though she's clearly making a mess of it. Leaning against his blue F-250 a few feet away, Jace watches with an amused grin, arms crossed over his chest as he throws out sarcastic comments every few seconds. Holly rolls her eyes, playfully telling him to mind his own business before finally giving in and letting him help. The second he finishes baiting the hook, she snatches the fishing rod back with a smug smile, determined to prove she doesn't need him.
Around them, their friends are setting up lawn chairs, tossing a football, and stringing a volleyball net between two trees while country music plays from the speakers in someone's truck. A couple of coolers are scattered around the campsite, burgers and hot dogs sizzle on the grill, and the smell of charcoal mixes with the fresh lake air. Every now and then, someone yells for another drink or starts laughing over an inside joke.
After a few casts, Holly suddenly feels a tug on her line and excitedly starts reeling it in. Jace can't resist laughing as she nearly loses her balance, but when she proudly holds up her first fish of the day, she flashes him the biggest "I told you so" grin. Their friends cheer while Jace shakes his head, claiming it was nothing more than beginner's luck. Holly bumps his shoulder with hers, laughing as they continue bickering back and forth, neither of them able to keep a straight face for more than a few seconds. Before long, the fishing rods are forgotten as everyone jumps into the lake, turning another ordinary summer weekend into one they'll all remember.*
