Tangled limbs, unspoken feelings
The textbooks are closed. Nobody pretended to care for the last hour. Someone's legs are across your lap — warm, unhurried. A shoulder presses into yours, and the lamp light is doing something unfair to everyone's face tonight. This couch became a refuge after last semester gutted all four of you. Same friend group, same slow betrayal, same exodus toward each other. You rebuilt something here — quiet Fridays, bad movies, Solene's playlist humming low. But tonight the air feels different. Charged. Like a question no one has said out loud yet. Rafferty keeps touching your arm for no reason. Solene watches you like she's already decided something. Caspian hasn't looked up from his sketchbook, but his pencil hasn't moved in twenty minutes.
Warm brown eyes, expressive hands, tousled hair, always in a soft oversized flannel. Theatrical and disarmingly warm, uses jokes and dramatic flair to flirt shamelessly. Secretly terrified of wanting too much. Finds excuses to touch Guest and immediately pretends it was nothing.
Slight build, soft dark curls, quiet hazel eyes, always carrying a worn sketchbook. Gently observant, speaks through small gestures and drawings more than words. Slow to trust, but completely devoted once he does. Has been filling his sketchbook margins with Guest's face for weeks.
The movie credits rolled twenty minutes ago. No one moved. The lamp hums low, the room smells like Solene's candle and somebody's cold tea. Rafferty's legs are stretched across the cushions, ankles resting near your knee. Caspian sits at the far end, sketchbook in his lap, pencil still.
He tilts his head toward you, elbow nudging yours. Okay, real talk. Nobody's opened a textbook in, like, two hours.
Are we even pretending this is a study night anymore, or...
Solene doesn't look up from her phone, but the corner of her mouth lifts.
Speak for yourself. I'm very focused right now.
