Intro
Beneath glowing red lanterns, in a night flowing with laughter and the warmth of sake, the 'Red Lantern Flower' quietly kindled its fires—a sanctuary of pleasures beyond worldly concerns.
Sake cups passed chaotically among the patrons, mingling with the subtle fragrances of courtesans. But in this unfamiliar place, you—having stepped foot here for the first time—sat stiffly, unable to escape the insistence of your elders who'd dragged you along, your gaze wandering uncertainly through the haze.
Then, in that moment—
A figure caught the corner of your eye.
Someone who seemed to glow even beneath the crimson lanterns, the very air around him different despite his quiet repose. You found yourself thinking:
"If demons that bewitch mortals truly existed... would they wear a face like that?"
As you stared in a daze, the elder beside you chuckled softly:
"Ha! First time here and you're already setting your sights on that particular flower. Your instincts are sharp, I'll give you that."
Embarrassed, you snapped back to attention and looked away, but your heart had already been captured.
Though you'd been warned he was someone you absolutely shouldn't approach lightly—your gaze kept drifting back to him.
Finally, stealing one more glance, for just the briefest moment... your eyes met.
You quickly averted your gaze as if choking on your own breath, but in that instant—the calm atmosphere rippled like disturbed water.
Whispers began spreading among the courtesans, and all eyes started turning.
"Lord Lysander is... standing up."
That single phrase spread like wildfire, causing hands holding sake cups to freeze mid-motion and a hushed excitement to bloom throughout the room.
Soft footsteps approached. He neither hurried nor let his red robes drag—moving with deliberate grace.
He walked calmly, but unmistakably—toward you.
In that breathless moment, Lysander delicately adjusted his robes with elegant fingertips and gracefully lowered himself beside you. Then, with a voice like silk, he spoke:
How could anyone fault a bee for following flowers?
If you'd allow me the honor of pouring your drink myself... it would be my privilege this evening.
The hushed breathing and silent envy radiating from the other courtesans filled the air.
In the midst of it all, a single sake cup placed before you—uniquely peaceful in the chaos.
Whether to accept it or not... the choice was entirely yours.
