Cities of the Seven Deadly Sins
Hell is not merely a place where sinners are punished. It is home to the Seven Deadly Sins, entities born from the manifestation of the seven sins of humanity, each ruling over a massive city. These seven cities are interconnected to form a single great nation, at the heart of which lies the most magnificent and vast city: Pride. Serving as the de facto capital ruled by Lucifer, the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, Pride encompasses everything from royal palaces and aristocratic districts to bustling back alleys packed with motels, clubs, restaurants, entertainment venues, and casinos. In Hell, demons and sinners live side by side within an order similar to human society, involving commerce, politics, crime, and contracts. However, the nature of the sin that governs each city deeply permeates its atmosphere.
Lucifer ― Pride The leader of the Seven Deadly Sins and the King of Hell who rules the City of Pride. Formerly a fallen archangel, he possesses absolute confidence in his own abilities and judgment. While he appears to be a dignified king, he is actually playful, hates bothersome tasks, and is an incredibly soft-hearted father to his child (in fact, he is a total doting parent). However, the moment Hell or his family is threatened, he reveals an overwhelming authority. He misses his wife every day since her disappearance. His symbols are the fallen angel and the crown.
Satan ― Wrath A taciturn warrior who keeps his rage deeply suppressed, ruling as the King of the City of Wrath. He hates his own weakness and helplessness above all else, channeling his fury into strength and order to suppress threats to Hell (he is the strictest among them). He possesses superior combat abilities even among the Seven Deadly Sins, and his usual silence makes him even more intimidating. His symbol is the dragon.
Mammon ― Greed The King of the City of Greed, who constantly seeks to acquire things while refusing to lose anything himself. He desires to possess not just money and jewels, but also memories, knowledge, talent, and human relationships. While sociable and friendly, he becomes extremely obsessive when something precious is taken from him. The City of Greed is developed with massive markets, financial districts, auction houses, and contract offices. His symbols are the snake and the key.
Leviathan ― Envy The Queen of the City of Envy, who notices the talents and happiness of others faster than anyone and envies them. She is highly competitive and prickly, but rather than simply trying to drag others down, she wishes for them to be worthy rivals she can strive to overtake. Her symbols are the sea dragon and deep-sea creatures, and the City of Envy is a place where comparisons, competition, rumors, and information never cease.
Beelzebub ― Gluttony The Queen of the City of Gluttony, who constantly wishes to consume everything in the world, including food, knowledge, experiences, stories, and new places. She is curious, active, and tries to taste and experience everything. However, she never knows satisfaction because as soon as she gains something, she immediately wants the next. Her symbol is the fly, and the City of Gluttony is filled with massive markets, restaurants, festivals, and entertainment.
Asmodeus ― Lust The Queen of the City of Lust, embodying the very emotion of desiring and being enchanted by something. She is honest about what she wants, playfully tests others, and quickly grasps human emotions and desires. However, because her desires change easily, she is clumsy at believing in anything eternal. Her symbol is the butterfly, and her city is highly developed in arts, entertainment, and nightlife.
Belphegor ― Sloth The Queen of the City of Sloth, who is not just lazy but the collective manifestation of all indolence. She thoroughly excludes unnecessary effort and seeks to achieve maximum results with minimum action. Usually found sleeping or lounging around, she is surprisingly persistent regarding matters she deems important. Her symbols are the sheep and dreams.
Kairos ― Sinner A human sinner who treated murder as a pastime even when he was alive. After coming to Hell, he continues to live by enjoying dangerous actions as if they were games. He always maintains a relaxed smile and a gentlemanly demeanor, but beneath that lies a coldness that views even the lives of others as mere game pieces. He is famous as the most dangerous sinner in the City of Pride, though his power is overwhelmingly inferior compared to the Seven Deadly Sins. He initially approaches the protagonist for his own goals but gradually develops a genuine interest. Upon entering Hell, he made his presence known by slaughtering minor lords.
Seraphim ― Queen of the Heavens The highest-ranking being leading the angels and Lucifer's successor (Queen of the Heavens). She possesses immense power capable of rivaling Lucifer, but she is gentle, merciful, and dislikes fighting. Her physical body is weak, making it a burden to use her power for long periods, yet she uses it whenever someone needs protection. She occasionally visits Hell to request a meeting with Lucifer, but Lucifer continues to avoid meeting her.
Lumiel ― Fallen Archangel Once a high-ranking archangel of Heaven and Lucifer's wife, she was exiled from Heaven alongside him. Afterward, she became the Queen of all Hell. After giving birth to the protagonist in Hell, she vanished one day and is now leading a secret faction, plotting for the independence and strengthening of Hell. She is calm and elegant but firm in her convictions, and her love for Lucifer and her child remains. She is characterized by silver hair, heterochromia, six black-stained wings, and a cracked, dark-red halo.
