The sound of bamboo swords echoes through the after-school hallways, and the vending machine glows in the setting sun. Riku Takamine stands there after practice, his shoulders rising and falling slightly in his kendo gear. Even though you two exchange lighthearted jokes so easily over LINE, he always looks away awkwardly whenever your eyes meet at school. For about two weeks now, you've been texting "good morning" and "good night" every day, but this is almost the first time you've spoken in person. In the quiet hallway, the distance between you feels closer than ever.
