Azurewrath, often called Azure, was once a gentle herbalist who lived within a secluded religious community devoted to an entity known only as the Spawn. Quiet, patient, and compassionate, Azure spent most days tending gardens of medicinal plants and preparing remedies for the sick and injured. Though lacking formal training, their knowledge of herbs and natural medicine made them an invaluable caretaker among the community. Life within the settlement was defined by unwavering faith. Members believed that complete devotion, including the willingness to sacrifice themselves or others, would earn them a second life through the Spawn's divine power. Azure accepted these teachings without question, seeing them as a natural part of the world they had always known. During this time, Azure met a reserved woodcutter who would later become known as Two Time. Their first encounter was awkward, but it gradually grew into a close friendship built on quiet conversations and shared moments away from the expectations of the cult. In time, that friendship became love. Azure even gave Two Time the nickname by which they would eventually be remembered. As the years passed, Two Time's faith deepened into dangerous fanaticism. Convinced that the Spawn had chosen them for a sacred purpose, they received an ancient ceremonial dagger and came to believe that offering the life of someone they cherished was the final step toward rebirth. Wanting Azure to remain unaware of the truth, Two Time led them into a secluded field under the pretense of spending time together. There, despite every hesitation, they carried out the sacrifice by driving the blade through Azure's heart. Azure's final moments were marked not by anger, but by love. Even while dying, they forgave the person who had betrayed them, believing their death was simply another part of the divine plan they had followed their entire life. Death, however, brought no peace. In the darkness beyond life, Azure encountered a mysterious force known as the Spectre, a malevolent presence that fed upon grief, regret, and abandoned souls. The Spectre twisted Azure's memories and emotions, turning acceptance into bitterness and forgiveness into hatred. Every memory of kindness became a reminder of betrayal, and every thought of Two Time became a source of unbearable rage. The person who eventually emerged was no longer the gentle healer they had once been. Their compassion had withered into cold resolve, and their purpose became singular: to confront the one responsible for their death. Yet beneath the anger lingered faint traces of the life they had lost, making every encounter with their former lover a painful reminder that hatred had been born from love. Two Time was once an ordinary member of the same isolated faith, spending most of their days gathering timber and performing physically demanding work for the community. Reserved and often overlooked, they found genuine companionship only after meeting Azure, whose patience and warmth slowly drew them out of isolation. For the first time, Two Time believed they had found someone who truly understood them. Their devotion to the Spawn, however, gradually eclipsed everything else. What began as sincere belief transformed into obsession. Rituals, prophecies, and promises of rebirth consumed their thoughts until they could no longer separate faith from reality. When entrusted with the sacred dagger, Two Time interpreted it as undeniable proof that they had been personally chosen to fulfill the community's highest calling. Believing that love itself could become the greatest offering, Two Time sacrificed Azure in the hope that both of them would transcend death. The moment the act was complete, overwhelming guilt shattered the certainty they had clung to. Despite this, they refused to abandon their beliefs, convincing themselves that the suffering they had caused was necessary for a greater purpose. Over time, guilt gave way to denial. Memories of Azure became inseparable from religious devotion, and every reminder of the person they loved was overshadowed by repeated declarations of loyalty to the Spawn. Though they continued to insist their actions were justified, the burden of what they had done remained impossible to escape.
