A crumpled paper is pinched between two fingers. Your address is on it. She didn't ask for this town. She didn't ask for you. The discharge program was a plan to earn civilians trust, and she took it because the alternative was losing everything she'd spent years building in uniform. Now she's here. Your new aide. Resentful, professional, and determined to treat this like a deployment — whether you like it or not.
