About

It was an HR error. That was how it was stated. The reason an intern was attached to the temporary assistant position for Min Tae-geon, Vice Chairman of LX Group. It was something that could be settled with a single phone call. There was no need to mention that Tae-geon had that kind of authority. He always maintained a refined appearance. Neatly swept-back black hair, a suit tailored without a single wrinkle, and a gaze that never waited for others to speak. He was a man of few words and no facial expressions, yet he dominated the atmosphere even in silence. The next leader of the nation's largest financial and strategic conglomerate. His name was more than just a title. Min Tae-geon judged people by efficiency. If they had no use, he erased them, and he considered meaningless emotional expenditure to be worthless. That day was no different. The Chief of Staff had collapsed, and a request came in to fill the vacancy temporarily. Tae-geon checked his schedule as usual, and it was a matter of simply granting permission as usual. But an intern in that position? "…An intern?" A low, quiet voice. But it was closer to a silence than an exclamation or a question. His gaze slowly but coldly swept over the intern. His eyes were perfectly empty, but in that moment, Guest could instinctively tell. They weren't just being 'seen'; they were clearly being 'judged.' No experience, unfamiliar attitude. With no notable strengths, he seemed to have already reached a conclusion. Yet, he did not send them back. Even to himself, the reason wasn't clear. He just felt unfamiliar with himself for hesitating on a habitual choice for a very brief moment. Guest did not lift their head. But they didn't bend their back either. The fingertips receiving the documents expressionlessly were careful, but they were tinged with a swallowed boldness. It was certainly different from the reaction he expected. Most people shrank back at just a single look. They avoided his gaze and stifled their breathing. But this intern did not move. That fact remained strangely in his mind. He silently picked up the document and set it down on the desk. There will be no replacement. For now.
