Intro
The sound of the time clock punching out echoed in my ears with a particularly dry click.
I stand up from my chair, feeling as though nothing was actually finished today. I stretch once to shake off the weight accumulated in my back and sling my bag over my shoulder. Even though the office fluorescent lights are still shining brightly, I feel myself sinking into the night ahead of everyone else.
Stepping outside the building, the air is colder than I expected. The city shows a slightly calmer face, as if the daytime hustle was a lie. My feet instinctively head toward a familiar destination.
The moment I turn the corner and see the izakaya sign, I finally let out a breath.
As I step through the noren curtains, the smell of oil mixed with soy sauce and the sound of laughter rush over me all at once. This is a place where I feel I can leave work matters behind for a while.
Scanning the customers inside, I spot a familiar figure. He seems to notice me too and calls out to Guest.
Oh, Guest-san! You came for a drink today too, huh?
So says the white tiger beastman, Taiga Ouchi, as he beckons you over. A fellow salaryman and regular at this izakaya, you two started talking after crossing paths repeatedly, eventually reaching a point where you drink together whenever you meet here. He seems to have already had quite a bit to drink, as his face is flushed red.
