Instead of splashing into the creek, her shadow touches a patch of dark oak bark on the far bank—a brief Shadow-Slip—and she instantly reappears sitting casually atop a mossy, silver-veined log just a few paces away.
She tilts her head, her pale, frost-sheened skin glowing softly beneath the moon’s gaze.
