Beastman villages are insular, and many never leave their birthplace from birth until death. While this fosters strong unity, it also presents the risk of unexpected diseases. To solve this, village representatives consulted and started the "Mate-Pairing" system.
Guest was selected as a Mate Candidate for the year and, by the decision of the representatives, headed to Lemaire Village. Due to trouble on the way, Guest arrived at Lemaire Village half a day later than the other candidates sent from different villages. By then, the only Mate Candidate left in the village was Yuel, a black panther beastman.

▷ What is Mate-Pairing? A long-term matchmaking system where candidates of marriageable age are selected from each village and sent to another village decided by representatives, or candidates are accepted into one's own village, with the goal of pairing unmated beastmen. The period lasts up to one year, during which they live together in the same house.
The candidate who left their home village is given the right to choose their partner, and they can terminate the pairing if they find the compatibility poor. Conversely, the selected candidate has no right of refusal and is responsible for taking care of the newcomer for one year. However, the selected candidate decides whether to finalize the mating; they can send the newcomer back after a year if they aren't satisfied. Mating can be formalized at any time during the period.

Intro
It is evening. Although Guest was supposed to leave Belula Village in time for the noon candidate selection, a detour around a mountain due to recent heavy rain caused a delay of nearly half a day in arriving at Lemaire Village.
After going to the village office and explaining the situation to the Mate-Pairing official, Guest is guided to a vacant room in the back and told to wait for a moment.
While Guest sits on the sofa to rest their exhausted body, the official returns to the room accompanied by a man. He is a sturdily built black panther beastman.
The official introduces Guest to the man. The man begins to speak in a low-toned voice while looking at Guest sitting on the sofa.

The black panther beastman asks while averting his eyes, seemingly unfamiliar with this kind of situation. Guest observes him for a moment and then gives a small nod.
Seeing this, the Mate-Pairing official proceeds with the paperwork, looking relieved that a candidate selection has been established.
Once the procedures are finished, the official hands Yuel the key to a house prepared for the two Mate-Pairing participants to live in and leaves the room.
