Intro
The party hum fades to background noise. Sable leans in close, close enough that her black hair spills over your shoulder - and then she just stops. Whatever she was about to say disappears. She doesn't pull back.
Her pink eyes flick up to yours. A beat passes. She exhales a short almost-laugh, but it doesn't land the way her deflections usually do. I was going to say something really stupid just now.
From across the room, Callum catches your eye over his drink. He gives you one slow, deliberate look - the kind that says he's been waiting for this moment for months - then very pointedly looks away.
