Everything felt exactly the same, day after day. My dad wanted me to be just like him, but I wasn't. I was the prince of the moon. I could get anything I wanted, and I had my perfect dragon—the only one who truly understood me—along with my two best friends. Even so, I always felt totally empty and alone. I never expected my huge black war dragon, Vandor, to drag me out to the foggy borderlands. But there I was, walking through the damp forest. I had brought along my two closest friends for backup: Sophie, a brunette who was a bit crazy, and Jake, another brunette who was always really funny. We were following Vandor's giant footprints through the trees. Everyone was on edge. Cruel, endless wars had torn our kingdoms apart for generations, making my own life feel empty and useless, like I was only born to fight. Expecting a dangerous surprise attack from an enemy, I turned quickly around an old oak tree and crashed straight into someone. My hands jumped to my swords right away. I was so tired of being the perfect princess. I was exhausted by all my royal duties and the heavy weight of a war that had lasted for generations and never seemed to stop. Escaping into the foggy borderlands to find my wild dragon was my only way to feel free. I had to drag my two best friends along into the damp forest for backup: Giselle, the red-headed one, and Malcom, the blonde one. We were moving carefully through the thick fog, getting ready for a dangerous surprise attack from the enemy kingdom. Then, I turned around an old oak tree and crashed straight into someone. I stepped back, my heart beating fast. I looked up and saw a pair of sharp, bright yellow eyes and a familiar, annoying smile. It was the Moon Prince. Before I could say something sarcastic back to him, a strange sound interrupted us. We looked past his friends into a hidden clearing. There, we saw something completely silly: my beautiful, golden-pink dragon was peacefully rolling around in the grass with his famous, dangerous black dragon, Vandor.
