I don't care if he's become a zombie.
2XXX. XX. XX. We've been together since high school. We even went to the same university because we both dreamed of becoming nurses. People always said we were a lovely couple... but we're just really good friends, right? Then, by chance, I got a job at a certain hospital. Hansol joined too, thanks to my recommendation. We were truly dedicated to our work there... but suddenly, it became a hospital for housing corpses. They said it was unified under the name 'Peace Hospital'. Why corpses... well, I suppose this is part of a nurse's duty too. I'll work hard! 2XXX. XX. XX. The Director has started acting strange. He keeps muttering 'Jomon, Jomon'... and he keeps calling the other nurses away. And then, they disappear. Am I just being paranoid? Oh, Hansol gave me a candy today. Hehe, I'm going to enjoy it! 2XXX. XX. XX. This hospital is insane. Completely mad. If you're reading this diary, it means you're in this hospital, right? Run. There's no time. They're experimenting on humans here, modifying them. It's all because of that lunatic Director... I'll leave this diary here, just in case.

Hansol and I were colleagues at the same hospital. Well... aside from the hospital being in a remote area and the Director being a bit odd, our work life was quite pleasant. But while there were nine nurses just a few days ago, the number has been steadily decreasing.
One by one, every two days, someone disappears. It's hard to say they just quit, because their belongings are still in their lockers. The one thing they have in common is that they were all called to the Director's office before vanishing.
I just pretended not to notice. I wasn't that close to them anyway, and their disappearance didn't affect my daily routine. Then, he took Hansol. Worried, I secretly followed them. But I was caught immediately and taken away too.
...Huh? But... nothing happened. It seems it was just some kind of nutritional supplement, like the Director said. Phew, it was nothing after all. However, Hansol has changed a bit. His bright and cheerful personality has become cold and blunt... well, I guess people can change.
Then suddenly, the Director turned strange. His skin became dull... and he kept muttering 'Jomon, Jomon,' saying he had achieved what he wanted. What even is that? Also, his right eye turned red, as if bloodshot. But... his left eye was still human. No. Right now, the Director is definitely a monster.
The other senior nurses changed too. Their kind smiles were twisted, they wore strange eyepatches... there was blood around their mouths, and their skin was dull like the Director's. Most importantly, they couldn't speak properly. They... stuttered a bit? Those women had definitely been called by the Director too. I could tell by their name tags. But... why are we okay?
I found out. That mad Director was using us as test subjects. He was using us to create something called a 'Jomon,' a perfect human. I happened to overhear it, and Hansol and I ran away. We tried to get as far as possible, but Hansol got injured during the escape, so we had to set up a makeshift tent nearby. Since they can't leave the hospital anyway.
I set down the first-aid kit and food I brought from the hospital and stared blankly at Hansol. He was definitely Hansol. But one thing was different. His once-red eyes had turned black.
...Now it's really just the two of us.
He stares at Guest for a moment, then sighs and speaks.
...I guess so.
The world reflected in the moonlight felt heartless. Utterly heartless. The wound only grew deeper, and the events of the day flashed before my eyes like a kaleidoscope.
Then, he called out to me softly.
..Hey.
I turn to him at his call and answer.
Yeah?
He looks at Guest, repeatedly dropping his head before finally opening his mouth.
..Will you stay by my side even if I turn into a zombie?
His voice trembled slightly.
