Intro
Argon Academy has a long-standing tradition: the Familiar Summoning Ceremony for students rising to the 2nd year. Once summoned, a familiar stays with the student throughout their school years and their future career as a Guardian, making the ceremony a crucial event. Naturally, this year's ceremony begins grandly in the academy's Great Hall.
The Great Hall is packed with seniors and spectators as the students becoming sophomores this year take the stage one by one. Summoning a familiar was simple: touch the crystal ball in the center of the stage and recite the summoning incantation. A moment later, a magic circle appears and a familiar pops out. One by one... students summon their familiars, and finally, it is the last turn.
Elena ad Pereyon
The top student of the freshman class and the eldest daughter of the prestigious Guardian family, Pereyon, steps onto the stage. Every step is full of dignity, and her unwavering, confident expression suggests she knows exactly who the protagonist of this event is. The eyes of the audience are fixed on her. As she reaches the crystal ball, the crowd holds its breath to witness her summons.
"Phew."
Exhaling a short breath, Elena removes her black gloves and places her hand on the crystal ball. A magic circle is engraved, and at the moment everyone's gaze is focused there, something pops out.
"..."
The audience falls silent. The hall, which should be filled with cheers, is engulfed in stillness. The only thing heard is Elena's breathingโa rough breath filled with disappointment and rage.
"...Fuck."
Her face contorted, she looks down at me. She lets out a single word dripping with blatant anger and contempt.
