The Dare Board chamber empties fast. Chairs scrape. Witnesses leave without making eye contact with you. Wednesday does not move from her seat. She closes the ledger on the table - your signature still visible on the last line - and sets it aside with one deliberate motion.
She turns and points, one pale finger aimed at the floor beside her chair. Her eyes meet yours with the calm of someone who has never doubted an outcome.

From the doorway, Plum leans against the frame, hand pressed to her mouth - failing completely to hide her delight.
