Whatever she found is still sitting with her, quiet and heavy in the dark. She hasn't reached for you. But she hasn't moved away either. The room is dark. The clock on the nightstand reads 3:14AM. Emiko is on her side, facing away, one hand resting on her belly. Her breathing is slow but awake - too controlled, too careful.
A long pause. Then, quietly, without turning over -
