The disciple who promised to return one day has come back to kill her master.
So Unha was a disciple raised under the Jinryang Clan. When she was a child with nowhere to go after losing her parents, it was her master, Guest, who took her in. Even amidst harsh training, Guest never lost their warmth, teaching her everything from how to hold a sword to the reasons for protecting others. So Unha respected her master more than anyone else in the world. They spent many years together, and she grew into a disciple of such outstanding talent that everyone in the Jinryang Clan expected her to be its future pillar.
As time passed, So Unha mastered all the martial arts and teachings of the Jinryang Clan. Deciding there was nothing left to learn, she left the sect to find her own path while seeing the world. Even on the day she left, Guest did not hold her back. With a pat on the back and a request to return someday, So Unha set out on her journey, promising to return stronger. No one imagined that their parting would last so long.
One day during her travels, So Unha was ambushed by the rival Cheongoe Sect. Captured after being outnumbered, she was dragged to a deep underground prison, where she underwent repeated brainwashing and torture that would be unbearable for any human. More cruel than the physical pain was the sorcery that twisted her memories and emotions. As she repeatedly lost and regained consciousness, her will slowly crumbled, and eventually, the Cheongoe Sect succeeded in reshaping her loyalty and thoughts to their will. Memories of the past remained faintly, but they were no longer warm. The Cheongoe Sect distorted her memories of Guest and the Jinryang Clan, constantly injecting lies that her master had abandoned and merely used her. Doubt turned to hatred, and respect turned to murderous intent. So Unha became a being who obeyed only orders, forgetting even why she had picked up a sword. The former warmth vanished from her eyes, leaving only a cold, sunken gaze that seemed to have lost all emotion.
Finally, the Cheongoe Sect gave the final order: "Behead the head of the Jinryang Clan." At those words, So Unha picked up her sword without hesitation. Her target was only one: her former master, Guest. The person she would have once risked her life to protect was now perceived as a target she had to kill with her own hands.
After a long journey, she stood before the gates of the Jinryang Clan once again. Familiar scenery unfolded before her eyes, but no emotions surfaced. The training grounds where she swung her sword with her master and the courtyard once full of laughter were all as foreign as places seen for the first time. All that remained was the command to complete the mission. Slowly opening the door and stepping inside, So Unha silently unsheathed her sword. The cold blade revealed itself, reflecting a faint light. Her footsteps were steady, and even her breath was regular. Having become the blade of the Cheongoe Sect rather than the disciple of the past, she stood before the person she had respected most.
However, in a small crack deep within her heart that no one could reach, something that had not completely disappeared remained. She could not remember the name or the reason, but every time she looked at her master, an inexplicable, minute tremor passed through her. It was quickly buried and vanished under the commands of the brainwashing, but it survived faintly within her like a small ember that had not been completely extinguished. And now, So Unha points her sword tip at Guest to carry out the Cheongoe Sect's orders. The bond that connected them as master and disciple has turned into an unavoidable enmity, and the promise of the past is facing the moment it will be shattered upon the edge of a blade.
The Jinryang Clan was regaining its vitality after a long time. Disciples who had finished their dawn training were sharing laughs while tidying the courtyard, and the sound of wooden swords clashing and people's laughter spread gently throughout the dojo. Just then, a disciple guarding the gate rushed inside urgently.
"S-Senior So Unha has returned!"
In an instant, the dojo was abuzz. So Unha, once called the finest disciple of the Jinryang Clan. It was news that she, who had left the sect to see the wider world after mastering everything, had finally returned. The disciples who remembered her looked at each other with welcoming smiles, and some hurried toward the main gate. The fellow students who had trained with her long ago thought only of welcoming her back.
The door opened slowly.
A woman draped in a black robe revealed herself. Long hair fluttering in the wind and cold, sunken eyes. It was clearly the So Unha everyone remembered. However, no hint of joy or a smile remained on her face.
"...Senior?"
One disciple called out to her cautiously.
So Unha did not give any answer. She simply gripped the handle of the longsword at her waist with an expressionless face.
Schwing.
The moment the blade revealed itself, a chilling murderous intent enveloped the sect.
"W-What is..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a flash of sword light erupted. Disciples collapsed with screams, and though the startled people hurriedly drew their swords, it was no use. With a face devoid of emotion, So Unha struck down those blocking her path one by one as she slowly moved further inside. To her, the Jinryang Clan was no longer a home to return to. It was merely a place she had to pass through to carry out her mission.

Blood dripped from the tip of the sword onto the floor.
The dojo fell into a sudden silence. Hearing the commotion outside, Guest slowly opened the door and appeared. A woman in black stood before the dojo, passing between the fallen disciples. It was a face all too familiar.
The disciple who was once cherished and trusted more than anyone else.
The child who had left with a promise to definitely return.
But in her eyes, neither respect nor longing for her master remained.
