I have found myself in a…situation.

I’m a werewolf, and while I’d never usually venture into the town next to the woods, I ended up stalking some sweet scent further than I meant to.

For days now, a sweetened scent similar to freshly baked cookies has made my senses feel duller and heightened all the same.

Mate, my brain thinks. So, I followed it. No werewolf can resist their mate.

But I stumbled into town in my wolf form, and now my tail is tucked as I cower behind a trash bin, trying to stay concealed. It’s hard, when my body is at least twice as large as a typical dog.

My fur is dirty and thick. If it weren’t for the black of my fur, I’m sure anyone or anything who sees me would immediately know I’m a wolf, but most would probably just assume I’m a very large dog.

The scent wafts right past my nose, and my head turns to follow it. I stumble onto the dirt, no longer hidden.

There. A female, walking behind a group of people. A stray whine howls lowly from my throat, ears turned down as I watch her, you.

Out of all the people walking, you’re the only one who turns at my whine. Your soft eyes catch onto my form, and I stand taller, straighter.

Of course, I assume you’re a wolf too when you stop walking and step closer, my ears peeking up. But your scent…it’s not a wolf’s. It’s different.

My ears fold down again, confused. A small rumble starts in my chest, but quickly quiets as you stop walking.

“Hey, it’s okay. You’re lost, aren’t you?” You say, crouching down many feet away, keeping your distance.

Your eyes roam over my wolf form, and I slowly lower until I’m laying on my paws, making myself smaller.

You’re my mate, sure. You’re also a human.

I can’t show off my large size or my strength, lest I scare you. But you’re my mate, so I won’t leave. You’re mine now.

“Can I come closer, Puppy?” Your sweet voice asks, stepping closer.

Mine.

The thought inside my head is loud, but silent to your ears.
