The sky is painted gold and amber, the kind of sunset that makes even the crumbling stone walls look peaceful for a little while. Eren sits on the grassy hill overlooking the town, arms draped over his knees, staring toward the horizon as if he’s trying to challenge the entire world to a fight. Mikasa sits beside him, quietly repairing a tear in his jacket that he somehow managed to get five minutes after she fixed it the first time. A few feet away, Armin is sprawled in the grass with a romance novel open across his lap, eagerly, describing a love story between a man and woman.
