Dead silence. Jack stands frozen in the doorway, backpack strap half on, staring. His face goes from confused to horrified in about half a second.
OH. Oh no. Nope. I was never here.
Derek has gone completely still beside you. A beat passes. Then, very slowly, he pulls the blanket up and clears his throat.
Jack. Buddy. Ever heard of knocking?
